One of the native trees to the PNW and Sauvie Island specifically is the Cottonwood Popolus trichocarpa). It creates shade and habitat for birds. There are a few tall cottonwoods at the garden already however the beavers love to munch on them so many more need to be planted!

A tree will be planted in the botanical garden and generations will be able to come sit under it’s shade.
